Museum Vredeburg

One of historical place in Yogyakarta named Museum Vredeburg. Fort Vredeburg Museum (Official Indonesian name, Museum Benteng Vredeburg Yogyakarta), was a former colonial fortress located in the city of Yogyakarta. The military complex has been converted into an Independence Struggle Museum which was opened in 1992. It is located in front of Gedung Agung and Kraton Yogyakarta (Sultan's Palace).

Kraton Yogyakarta 

Kraton of Yogyakarta (formally known as: Keraton Ngayogyakarta Hadiningrat) is a palace complex located in the city of Yogyakarta,Yogyakarta Special Region, Indonesia. The palace is the main seat Sultan of Yogyakarta and his family. It serves as a cultural center for the Javanese people and contains a museum that displays the sultanate's artifacts.

Taman Sari

Taman Sari also known as Taman Sari Water Castle is a site of a former royal garden of the Sultanate of Yogyakarta. It is located about 2 km south within the grounds of the Kraton, Yogyakarta, Indonesia. Built in mid 18th century, the Taman Sari had multiple functions, such as a resting area, a workshop, a meditation area, a defense area, and a hiding place.

Sentra Gudeg Wijilan

Gudeg, the most popular food in Yogyakarta. This tasty food is a must-try food for whoever visits Jogja. Gudeg can be found in most places in Jogja, but Wijilan area (not far from Kraton Yogyakarta complex) is the famous one. There are about 17 food stalls selling gudeg as their menu. Alun Alun Kidul

There is an interesting games in Alun-Alun Kidul. If you can walk straight forward between two trees, it means if you want to reach your dream, you have to fight for it. Kali Progo (Progo River)

Kali Progo or Progo river is located in Mangir Village. Kali Progo is a river which is flowing in Center Java and Yogyakarta . This river becomes a natural confine between Kulonprogo and Sleman & Bantul. The length is about 140 km. In the summer, there is a bridge among the river, and in the rainy season, villagers will across the river by a gethek (traditional boat from wood and bamboo). You can enjoy the view and the feeling when you ride the gethek or across the river with the bamboo bridge made.


Tempuran Ngancar 

















There is a collision between Bedog River and Progo River, that;s why the villagers called it as Tempuran Ngancar in Mangir Village. If you want to find a really unique and traditional kind of restaurant which named "Legokan Lancar Restaurant", you can choose so many traditional foods from fresh vegetables (the sellers plant it by themselves), fishes and meats. It is a good opportunity for you to try the special taste there.

History Of Mangir Village

History about Ki Ageng Wanabaya Mangir

A long time ago, Mangir was a Republic Village which usually called Perdikan Village. The village has chief village who named Ki Ageng. Mangir Villagers believe that the first chief village in Mangir is family related with King Brawijaya V from 47 generations and 117 brothers in Majapahit based from many sources and literature. Before he had the title of Ki Ageng Mangir, his name was Lembu Amisani or Raden Megatsari.

The most popular story was about an enmity between Ki Ageng Mangir IV which was Ki Wanabaya III and the ruler of Mataram, Danang Sutawijaya or the son of Ki Ageng Pamanahan or Panembahan Senopati who held the location in Kota Gede. At that time, Ki Ageng Mangir defended the concept of village which freed from payment of taxes.

Because of his supernatural power and with his holy spear (Kyai Baru Klinthing), Mangir could not be conquered by Mataram. Finally, Panembahan Senopati sent his own daughter who named Pembayun with any other people to pretend to be a “Ledek” (dance performed at feast by hired dancers joined by honored spectators) in Mangir until Purworejo. In short, the figure of Ki Wanabaya who was dauntless, brave and wise made Pembayun fell in love, and it also happened to Ki Wanabaya who saw Pembayun's dance in front of him. In short, Pembayun asked Ki Wanabaya to bring her to klatah Mataram in Kota Gede, Then, there was an incident which determined the existence of Mataram Kingdom and Mangir itself. 

Based from many literatures, Ki Ageng Mangir was killed there and buried in Kota Gede, half of his body is located outside of the fortress and the other inside the fortress. It meant Ki Ageng Mangir Wanabaya is their son-in-low and the other is enemy. However, there is a lot of rumor that said he buried in Sorolaten Godean.

Mangir is a plant's name. In the past, a lot of mangir plants grown there. the bark of the plant was used to be herbal cosmetic and traditional food called Gudeg Manggar that Pembayun offered to Ki Ageng Mangir Wanabaya.
